Wine
Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is the winery's premium Shiraz of the vintage. It is named after Hugh Lloyd, who established Coriole in 1967.
It is produced from some of the oldest vines in McLaren Vale, planted by Geoffrey Kay in 1919 at the bottom of a hillside. Their roots and soils run extremely deep, meaning that no irrigation is required and low yields are the norm.
The fruit is destemmed but left as whole berries. It is open fermented in stainless steel and wax lined concrete tanks, with the cap of grape skins hand plunged to add complexity to the final wine.
Maturation occurs in new and seasoned French oak barrels over 18 months. Just a few barrels are selected for the final blend. Once bottled, the wine is aged for a further 18 months or more.
Deep dark red, Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is full bodied with rich dark fruits that unfurl to layers of firm, fine tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
